After accepting the latest update and rebooting my PC I am not getting an error message that there is an Error Starting Program A required .DLL file, ACWCMNS.DLL was not found. How do I get this dll or redo the updates so I can get Avast up and running again?

Did you try going to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > avast antivirus > change/modify option and after that choose the 'Repair' function?

I am on windows 98 1st Edition. I do not see a change command button but clicked add/remove to see what I would get. I got the following message.
avast!
a setiface error has occurred.
Try to re-install or contact support, please

Hmm, it seems the installation was badly corrupted somehow... ???
I would suggest to download the full installer and use it to repair/reinstall your avast.
