Title: incompatibility of the avast self protection module and the System Restore feat

Why can I not use system restore with home edition Latest version. I am running windows XP even when I disable avast and stop defence i still cannot restore to a earlier check point time

avast doesn't control system restore as you find when you disable avast it makes no difference to your ability to use system restore.

What reason is given for not being able to go to an earlier restore point ?

Why are you trying to do that ?

If you want a working System Restore you need Windows Vista. In Windows XP, System Restore doesn't even work most of the time when you need it the most. Been there, tried that and been pissed pretty much every time. No such problems in Vista.
I usually just turned it off because it was useless anyway.
