Hi Eminem, welcome to the forum.
Simple answer yes. Certain Avast processes need to be added to the allow rules created in ZA.
The exact processes I shall leave to someone versed in the ways of ZA to post, but there are quite a few posts on this forum concerning it.

Should be good as gold to do that yourself.
The procedure I'd use is to  first download the Avast home file http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html) then the AVG removal tool http://www.avg.com/download-tools (http://www.avg.com/download-tools) (make sure you get the correct one for your OS, most likely 32 bit) -save both these files where you can find them -then
-disconnect from the net.
-Exit (or otherwise turn off/disable) the AVG
-Uninstall AVG from the control panel>add/remove programs
-reboot
-run the AVG removal tool, reboot if prompted
-Install Avast AV [edit, missed a bit] you'll be prompted to reboot during the process, and probably be prompted for a boot scan. Unless you are confident the computer is clean, allow the boot scan to run. It can take quite a while.
-reconnect to the net, check for updates.
A way to check is by right clicking the tray icon (blue ball, botoom right of the screen) select "updating", then "IAVS update" (which is the database.
Then you should be all good to go, provided ZA allows the processes. I've never used ZA, so I can't comment on how to set it, but the firewalls I have used usually prompt when a new process wants to connect. If that happens with Avast, click "allow" and "remember" or their ZA equivalents.

See also my comment in your other post about the Norton removal tool. Might be important; will certainly do no harm to run it.

BTW, it's a pretty good idea to keep all related questions in one thread. Makes life a little easier for the helpers, and in this case, there was info missed that could be important.

Hi Eminem and Tarq57

Are we talking AVG 7.5 or 8.0 ?

'cause according to a recent post by "Libra" (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=42044.msg354207#msg354207) the removal tool is only for 8.0.

That may be the case. But do you think it will do any actual harm to run it following removal of 7.5?
I can't see how it would.

I don't think it will do any harm. I just don't think it will do any good!

The Grisoft recomended way to remove AVG 7.5 is to use the latest installer (http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/4029/).

Alternatively Revo (http://www.revouninstaller.com/) might do the trick.

Personally I would run the AVG Remover, juat to be sure as avg8 seems to leave some debris behind. Download tool from here, http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-tools (http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-tools) there is a 32bit and 64 bit windows version, ensure you use the correct one.

Can you reduce the dimensions of your image in your signature, it makes the topics very long.
