Post by: chauncey1874 on February 22, 2009, 05:27:01 PM
avast 4.8 home edition
outlook 2002
windows xp

I have a few different outlook email profiles set up for different email accounts. I was scrolling through them and see that I have now have 8 additional profiles all starting with AvastPst and ending with numbers, ie AvastPst31322. What are they? Why are they there? Can I delete them?

Strange and weird... avast shouldn't be creating any email profiles...
Hope someone with more knowledge, like Alanrf, could help...

In the properties of these files are they created/modified recently or do they date back some time.  How large are they?

I have Outlook 2003, XP Pro SP3 and current avast and I see no such files in my system.

It may be that these are left over temporary files created during mail scans (ie temporary files used to hold the messages being scanned before committing them to the main database) that failed to be deleted.  I am guessing though.  Maybe one of the email specialists on the avast team could give a simple answer.

I started using avast less than a month ago, so the profiles are new. I deleted them. I will see if they new ones are created the next time I scan.
