Title: Scanning News (UNTP) shows virus but can't delete
Post by: Beamer1 on February 26, 2009, 11:02:24 PM
Interesting action today.
A Trojan was detected while downloading from a news server (using Forte's Agent) I pressed Delete and it then said it couldn't find the file. I click OK and the cycle starts anew. The only way I can stop it is to stop the download, and close Agent, then restart Agent and continue. The only thing I can think of is that Avast is seeing the Trojan and flagging it in part and keeps tripping over newly arrived packets.
Thoughts?

There you have the answer already. avast! detects the malware when you try to download it. Since the download is not finished it is a temporary file. That is why the file can't be found, because the download is interupted. Why "the cycle starts again" is also logical. Your news agent is trying to download it again which in turn triggers avast! again.
