Title: Style Files
Post by: flitewave on May 03, 2004, 09:21:49 PM
I have a virus on my machine that is constantly trying to change my home page. Avast 4 home addition does not see it. coolwww or coolsearch is the file name. This thing is very aggressive and I have had no success in erraticating this malicious code out of my machine. I am running Windows 2000 proffesional service pack 4. Any help you can give me on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Richard.

This has been discussed many times here on the forum. See e.g. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=3908

BTW it's not really a virus so avast does not detect it.

Thanks
Vlk

It is not a virus but instead a browser highjacker. Do a Google search for CWshredder, download it, and run it. This program is made particularly for Coolwww, CoolSearch, and it's variants.

It's a free download.    :)
