I'd say it will... don't know how much, but a bit for sure... (like it does with every other computer) :-\

I think it will... but you can test after all, the connection speed is important also.

It shouldn't matter if it does slow it, as a firewall is an essential part of the system security.
256MB of RAM is an absolute minimum for winXP, start loading other applications and you will have a slowdown in system performance as data will have to be continually swapped out of memory into the pagefile.sys on your HDD, so you would notice much thrashing of the hard disk.
RAM is cheap and relatively easy to update, a minimum od 512MB and preferably 1GB of RAM would improve over all system performance.
You should also be looking at updating to XP SP3.

Well... use Windows Firewall for a minimum impact... But I suggest you get XP SP3.

Depends on the firewall, of course.
This computer is my old one- 256MB and 1.8GH. Ran it with Windows and ZA or Kerio (now Sunbelt) for years. Now it runs Ubuntu with no firewall as such but sits behind a router. Doesn't seem to make a lot of difference- still slow if too many apps running.
My main computer has 1GB and 1.8GH dual core. The Windows partition has Windows firewall but it sits behind the same router. Before I had the router, I ran ZA, Kerio or Comodo 2.
I don't use any other firewall because a) it's behind a router and b) I only use it for games, where a third party firewall does slow it down.
In short, I'd recommend a router with a firewall- let the router do the work. If you're not running games or high-demand applications, install a firewall if you wish- shouldn't have too much of an impact.

Agree. You can alway have Windows Firewall its usefull its not better to dont got a firewall :D
