Title: Support Roadmap for TLS?
Post by: systemsadminAS on March 19, 2009, 03:26:44 PM
We previously used AVG in our enterprise environment (@ 75 users), and found Transport Layer Security (TLS) much more efficient than Secure Socket Layer (SSL) in terms of throughput for email.  We recently migrated to Avast, and I was disappointed to learn that it does not natively support TLS as an option for the Internet Mail provider, though I have seen some workarounds..

Is there any roadmap for the future for new versions (5.x?) to support TLS?  We often have large attachments that can take 5-10x longer to send or receive, and would very much appreciate going back to TLS from SSL.  We predominantly use thunderbird 2 on the client side, versions of which have supported TLS as an option for years along with AVG.  Why does Avast not yet support it?

Regards,

Erik
