Title: restart needed ???
Post by: slincoln on May 06, 2004, 08:55:47 PM
Hi,
I have a pc on which I performed a clean install of windows 2000 SP4. It has been fully patched with all critical updates.
I then installed avast home, build 4.1.396.

However, every time I boot this pc, avast pops up a message saying that the pc needs to be restarted. This occurs regardless of if a pattern update has been applied or not.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling avast, but the same thing happens. The only way I can carry on using the pc is to click "No" on the message.

I've attached a screen shot of the pop-up in case that helps.

I hope you can help, many thanks.

Yes, I installed avast with the admin account.

I've also tried searching these forums for similar problems but cannot find anything that relates to my problem, except for a hint that the latest program version may cause instablility in some systems.
