After installing Internet Explorer 8 Windows Service Pack Setup showed up on programs in Zone Alarm. Is that normal?

I don't use zone alarm, but in my mind, this would be normal.

You download a simple (small) installer package, it initiates a download, zone alarm picks it up, and you get an entry.

Don't think you have to be alarmed by it.

It is not a problem. As scythe944 explained, ZA had to allow the setup program out to download the package containing IE8 Service pack. Otherwise, you never will get the Service pack to download.
