Title: Standard shield
Post by: rainman on May 07, 2004, 04:23:16 PM
Hi everyone,
avast 4.1.home edition.
Re standard shield > advanced
If I try to modify locations that wont be scanned, they can initially be removed, however when I close program then open again they are all back again, this even occurs after a reboot.
Items as listed below.
?:\config.sys
?:\msdos.sys
*\page file.sys
*\win386.swp
*\system. da/?
*\user.da?
any help much appreciated
thanks. ???

Why do you want to remove the items?
Some of the items are really important not to be scanned - so they may be automatically re-inserted to the list.

Please note, these are all system files and shouldn't be removed. They are there as a backup in case they are needed. :)

Thanks for enlightening me, I just thought this was an option, with the ref "here you can modify the list of locations"

thanks again. ;)

Sure, you can - but it's mostly meant for adding new exclusions that will not be scanned. Some of the "default" paths cannot be removed, for security reasons.
