A 200% increase of malicious websites found.
The number of websites that tries to infect users through malicious images has risen by almost 200%.during last month.
This growth resulted mainly from JavaScript and VBScript-embedded images.
While this is not a new technique, it has not been used much until now,
also have these malicious images been found to exist inside e-mails,
the attack will abuse an existing hole in older browsers,
through which HTML, JavaScript or VBScript can be added to images to be executed.
This technique is used by attackers in the form of ads being shown.
It is also a way to monitor users. Every day some 2800 malicious websites were found,
according to the monthly survey of filter-vendor MessageLabs.

In the Netherlands the number found increased with 1,4%. 68,8% of all mail is spam,
Use an alternate browser like Fx with NoScript, RequestPolicy and ABP installed, and
one is fully protected. Do not use older browser types like Fx 2, IE4,5,6 and update and
fully patch your OS and third party software,

Hi bob3160,
I fully agree with you here, avast is doing a jolly good job of protecting us against online malicious websites, we have seen many examples of their growing expertise in the virus and worms lately while blocking access to mentioned sites. With avast you/we are in good hands here,
