I created a password a few days ago and I forgot what it was. Now I can't access my On-Access Protection Control or Program Settings and can't access a few other things.
Is there any way I can recover it or change it?

see this thread for explanation on possible solution.

You could delete the file aswResp.dat from <avast>\Data folder.
You'll need to boot as an administrator and use Unlocker (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/) to do that.
I'm not sure you can circumvent the self-defense module of avast though...

My solution to the problem was to start my computer in safe mode, uninstall avast, start it in normal mode and install it once again. Make sure to have a copy of your license file if you use anything other then avast free.
