Title: Is Avast! Home Edition Compatible with McAfee VirusScan Plus?
Post by: !Donovan on April 28, 2009, 03:11:37 AM
I want to see why a lot of schools use this. Do I have to uninstall Avast! Home Edition before I install McAfee VirusScan Plus or is it compatible? I just want to see why schools use this insted of Avast! Home Edition.

In my experience, schools use McAfee and Norton because they don't know any better.  The two schools that I manage use Avast  :)

I don't know if they're compatible though.  If the VirusScan Plus is only an On-Demand scanner, then it shouldn't be a problem.  If it's real-time, then heck no.

Okay, I'm not installing Mcafee.

LOL, Guess what? One of my schools got a flood virus in their system files and when they tried to delete it, in twenty minutes, it came back! It was reconised as a Trojan and thats it. I yelled out, "FOR PEKE SAKE! UNINSTALL MCAFEE AND GET AVAST!" but I only got in trouble. I guess they might of got the program free is they want it so bad...

perfect situation to use the AVAST BART CD and then convince them to go for avast

if mcafee would have done its job, the infection should have stopped at the first sign of it

I figured out what to do, all I got to do is burn the program to a CD and give it to the school to download on all the computers!

I don't think that Schools are allowed to use the Home Edition  :-\
But there are special discounts for schools...
