Title: My email
Post by: Taboomeesha on May 13, 2004, 09:59:33 AM
Hi all,

I run Win98 Se with OE 6.

Ever since I have loaded Avast I noticed my email was stalling, it would stop just before the sending of emails, and I wouldn't recieve anything during that time.

I called my provider, and after some time on the phone, it was discovered that in my Options/accounts/carrier addy the outgoing and incoming server areas were being filled with an ip addy instead of the server name.

This is happening alot!  Everytime my email stalls I have to go in and reset this up!

Can someone help me?  I've run the email wizard a few times now.

What am I missing?

Wendy

The email wizard replaces your server with 127.0.0.1  so that avast can scan your email.

Taboomeesha, wellcome to forums!
That behavior is normal as Mac said.
Do you have an 'a' blue icon in your system tray?
Did you run Mail Protection Wizard (Start Menu > avast antivirus > MPW)

Yup have done all that and yup on the round blue ball.

Okay, well I'll give it a few days.  If it continues I'll have to remove it.

Thanks folks!

Sorry, but if you remove it (i.e., the 127.0.0.1) you will remove avast protection. Your emails won't be scanned (neither the Inbound nor the Outbound).  :'(
There is no other way to be protected  :-\
