Title: Getting IPHLPAPI.DLL Cannot Start Error
Post by: Urbanlady on May 15, 2009, 10:31:31 PM
I am getting an error on my Windows ME Machine on bootup which says
IPHLPAPI.DLL Cannot Start.  I did not ever have this error before when I was running Free AVG.  I also got this error when I installed Clam AV.  I uninstalled it and the error went away.  AVAST only seems to do it sometimes.  Any ideas on how to fix this.

It seems to help to turn off AVAST on startup check feature before I shut down.  Then when I bootup I do not seem to have the problem.  When I first installed AVAST a few days ago it did not do this.  It has been updating itself every day I think.

Problem is that my wireless connection will not work when I get this error.  The adaptor will not load.  I have a Linksys USB adapter Model Number WUSB54GC which is supposed to work for Windows ME and has worked well for me.   There is no NIC in my conputer so that is the only way I can connect to broadband.  When I get the error I can still use my dialup connection which does not seem to be affected by it.  Seems only the wireless USB device needs that DLL,

Any suggestions?  Have you heard of this happening to anyone else?

Thanks in advance for any help

That error is related to the API.
Is suggest you google for "API error windows me" and try some of the suggestions given there.
Let us know if you got it solved or not.
