I've had to take Avast off my new computer as it blocks the internet. The only things that will work are skype and Avast's own virus database daily update. I've also had it on my old computer and it slows everything down so much I'm going to take it off there as well. As this is a new computer, I put Avast on before I started downloading much stuff and what I had already downloaded was pretty standard stuff.
I've seen another thread with a similar problem but no one has offered a solution. Is there anyway to fix this? I've used other anti-virus software in the past and watched as viruses just went straight through it but on the other hand, completely blocking internet access is a bit much.

Have you allowed Ashwebsrv through your firewall ?
