Title: Ashserv (Not Responding)

I have Win98 SE, OE6 and IE6

I have the free edition of Avast and very often when I try to go to Standby I get Ashserv (Not Responding).  I know that the Ashserv.exe file is part of the Avast software. How can I remedy this?
