Post by: natty575 on June 12, 2009, 10:41:05 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to install avast on an vmware machine that has Windows 2k server sp4 (without the rollup pack installed) and I am having some issues...well a big one, I recieve a stop error as attached.

Has anyone testing this uising vware?

Thanks in advance

When does it crash - during the installation, right after that on the next reboot, or later, perhaps during a specific action?
Would you be able to send us the dump file (a minidump may be enough for the start), e.g. upload it to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming ?
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply Igor,

the error comes up when trying to run the installer, as soon as I click on the avsrv_ful.exe file

Have uploaded the file to the ftp site (Mini061209-01.dmp),

Thanks again for your help

i googled on "xp stop 0x0000002C" there are a lot of forum postings to find about it and mostly people have problems with conflicting drivers/programs

is there any firewall installed on the 2000 machine?
or a previously installed AV that got uninstalled...
i also saw that one person had a problem with his cd drivers

something like that

If the bluescreen occurs at the moment you start avast! installer, then I can't imagine it could be caused by avast!... I mean, it's not yet loaded at the moment, and the installer certainly doesn't do anything strange or low-level.
I'll ask if anybody can check the dump.

The VM is freshly installed, no other AV installed (nor any other programs) as I was intending to test product before installing in a live environment.

Thanks again for your help so far
