Title: HOW TO DISAPPEAR FROM A SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE?
Post by: ihavequestions on June 13, 2009, 08:23:20 AM
Hi everyone

i know this is slightly off-key, but can anyone tell me what to do in order to totally delete an Orkut account? I mean, by which none of my friends can contact me on orkut-- as if i just don't exist in orkut. i just want to completely disappear from orkut, that's all. How to do it?

-= To permanently delete your orkut profile, please follow these steps:

1.Click settings on the left sidebar of your profile.
2. On the general tab, click delete my orkut account.
3. You'll be taken to a page that gives further instructions and a link to delete my account. Clicking this link will re-direct you to the Delete orkut page of your Google Account.
4. Check the box confirming that you really want to delete your orkut profile from your Google Account.
5. Once you enter your password and click Remove orkut you will no longer be able to log into orkut.com, but your Google Account will remain active. Please do not try to log in to your orkut profile again for at least 24 hours.

The best thing is to never join anything that may come back to haunt you in the future in the first place.
Something to keep in mind for the future.... :) :)

Like in carpentry Measure twice. Cut once.
There's a Russian saying: "If you had known where to fall, you would have put a straw mat there." Not everybody are good at carpentry. ;D

Hi  ihavequestions,

You better realize early on that with online activities it is a bit as with energy and there no energy disappears, be it positive or negative.
The same is with karma - karma stays be it negative or positive in nature, "not an iota, not a dot, will pass ....", so also for online activities, I hope a lot of young people read this thread,

Thanks a lot Fenrir for writing in details all the steps. And thanks also to the rest who have answered. What's interesting about online forums is that when you ask a serious question, you get two sorts of replies : 1) Serious and informative 2)Amusing and philosophical.
I like both of them. In fact sumtimes I like the latter replies more than the former ones for their remarkable wit.
