Adobe’s Shockwave Player contains a critical vulnerability that could be exploited by remote hackers to take complete control of Windows computers, according to a warning from the software maker.
Make sure your Shockwave Player is at version 11.5.0.600

of course, if you don't have a flash player plug-in for browsers, then you can't watch flash videos on internet such as YouTube videos (actually not just flash videos, you can't display any flash contents). i don't know if there are alternative flash players other than Adobe as a browser plug-in, and don't need to know coz the Adobe one is simply enough. :D the shockwave player is also required to view some web-based applications. for further info see the link: http://www.filehippo.com/download_shockwave/
i suggest you install both of them if you still don't have them.

Ok well i got both :) I just asked for be sure.

I dont know whether everyone else is getting the popup extra for Norton scan with their Shockwave download or whether it is a regional thing or what.

You can test your players here and check the version.

Yep. (Same country, though.)
I had that the last two update/installs.
Decided after some thorough and considered reasoning over about 2 seconds to un-tick the box. ;D

Hi Tarq57
I guess we can expect this kind of thing to become the regular occurrence. Adobe Reader is doing the same with Google tooolbar (and updater, I think).

Yep. First time I updated Ccleaner to find I then had a Yahoo toolbar was when I then started reading EULA's a bit.
(Can't stand toolbars.)

You can download the ccleaner slim version with no Yahoo toolbar, http://majorgeeks.com/download4191.html (http://majorgeeks.com/download4191.html), or watch out for the option during the install and uncheck the Yahoo toolbar option.
