Title: Updating iAVS fails
Post by: phtran on May 27, 2004, 02:52:34 AM
Hi,

i try to update iAVS or update the program, but i get an error message after a few minutes:

"server ... is down"
...

i know there could be a firewall problem here, so this is my situation:
- Win XP's built in internet connection firewall is active, but turning it off (and reboot) does not solve the problem.
- i have no other firewall software.
- im connecting through an ADSL/cable router.
- there are no problems sending files over Msn messenger or irc.

So my problem is, Avast can not automaticly update my virus database. (i also get this message: "An error has occured while attempting to update!).

I hope someone can help me on this,

P.T.

There might be a problem in reaching Alwil servers (www.asw.cz or www.avast.com) from your place. This could have many reasons - problems on their side or on your side, problems of their or your ISP, problems somewhere between both parts.

They have several servers so at least one of them could be reacheable all the time. And if sometimes some update does not make it through, please be patient and retry this soon - it should work then, I hope...

Bye (maybe Pavel discover this post  ;D)
