Title: Hide Folders Program
Post by: grog4444 on August 19, 2009, 07:36:17 AM
For some reason the Avast program is saying that there is a virus/worm when ever I try to run my Hide Folders program. I never had this problem before and I have some very important protected with this program. I uninstalled the program and when I tried to download the program again its giving me that same
waring. Is this a false positive or not.
I hope it is. Otherwise, how am I going to un protect the files that are protected????

Hello grog4444

1. which is the file that avast is detecting as virus/worm. state the file name in the format drive letter :\folder name\file.extension ?

2. could you upload the file to virustotal.com (VT), wait till the process is complete and post the vt link here.

Well, at the site its detecting the exe file for the program which is in a zip file.
I don't know why its doing this now!!!!
Can I use the zip file at the site you mentioned or do I have to unzip it???

move it to avast chest and then:

right click tray icon >start avast! antivirus, let the user interface load > right click on the user interface > virus chest > user files > select the file that was added by you > click on the email to avast icon > select false positive. do a manual update.

the false positive(fp) will be fixed if it is fp.

The first time I did a check of the file it showed 0 problems but when I rechecked the file it showed 3 files, all making reference to Wind32:Induc.
Did you see that????

There is no need to use any util/application to "hide" folders if you are using Windows 2000 or higher.
The os already provides you with security options like that.
Learn to use the OS you have.

dont worry.

upload the file to avast using chest and do a manual update as i posted. after today's virus database update, scan the file in chest and if it is no more detected then you can safely extract it and run.

I really like this program!!!! I hate to use Microsoft related programs or applications unless I have to.
I have no idea on how to secure files using Windows XP.

select the file in the chest which is to be uploaded. if you have added the file manually to chest then it'll be in user files area. else it will be in infected files area

edit : see pic.

I read the post and don't know what to do now!!!!
I have GBS of files that are protected with this program.
I'm not sure if this program always had it or it got infected from some where
else.
I don't know which of my programs use Delphi.

The website for the Hide Folders had a new zip file for the program that doesn't flag it with a virus
when you try to download it or install the program but now I although I have the registration code to
make it a licensed program it says it accepts it but then it keeps it still unregistered. Also, I can't
get the program to unlock my protected files.

may be because the old version was not properly uninstalled - the program exe file was found as virus and deleted by avast (say) then the previous entries in the registry might still be there and now that might be the problem. can you give me the link to the site where you got your program.

I got an email from support for the Hide Folders program and they corrected the virus issue.
I downloaded the new file, ran it and had no problems.
It opened my locked folders as well.
Thanks for all your help!!!!!
