Title: Is this real additional in the cloud av or not?
Post by: polonus on August 23, 2009, 05:28:57 PM
Hi malware fighters,

To be run on top of your existing av-solution: http://www.immunet.com/user/new

Anyone to comment? Present av scanners miss out more than half of to-day's new threats, this was the reason that Immunet launched a free av solution that uses "the force of the cloud". Rolling out the Immunet Protect, as the av scanner has been called, is being led by Oliver Friedrichs, a once Symantec official. The program uses every computer it is on as kind of a honeypot. That is why it could protect a whole community against attack in real time. "Every time one in this collective community meets with a threat all the others are also being protected in real-time".

The model for this new initiative is combining cloud computing, collecteve intelligence together with user groups to get a more effective malware detection and protection. Whenever the software detects a new threat, it is causing a reaction on all other Immunet Protect versions to block the threat in question, nonwithstanding what av solution Immunet Protected users use. These data will be send to the cloud, so other "communities" can benefit from it. The tool works fine next to an existing resident av solution like avast. The only thing is that the software was only downloaded 351 times since August 18th,

Maybe this could be called anti@home  ;D

Does not work on Windows 7 even though they claim it does but the error message says that it is only supported on Vista.

Hi pol

i did install it.

initial observations:

1. fast start flash scan.
2. tested with one of the latest threat which even avast doesn't detect. result: failed. i need to test it more and will post back as days go by.
3.attached two screenshots.
4. no on demand scan for particular files. eg, if i have file in some folder, i cant scan it ie., no option like right click> scan with immunet protect.

Hi folks,

Downloaded it, but cannot seem to make it work next to avast. It stays in offline mode, does not do a scan.
Allowed it as trusted in Threatfire, but somehow it cannot connect to that cloud.
Well someone has another tip to make it function,
