Title: Avast scanning and clean notes
Post by: Celtic on May 29, 2004, 11:19:47 AM
I use Thunderbird  with Mailwasher and AVAST Home 4.1.396
Avast Home edition  scans my  incoming emails, without attachments, ok and inserts a note saying inbound clean. BUT if I receive an email with an attachment Avast scans but DOES NOT insert note , have checked it by sending myself emails and that is wot happens. Have uninstalled and re-installed program 3 times but still to no avail.
WORKS FINE WITH OUTLOOK EXPRESS-Also use Mailwasher but even with the washer turned off ,problem still persists.
SCANNER SENSITIVITY IS AS FOLLOWS
Internet Mail:
- Scan inbound mail [POP3]
- Heuristic sensitivity: custom

Filesystem:
- Scan selected files on write
- Scan selected files on open

Any idea's ??

PART 2
Actually got a friend to email me a message with an attachment as a test and the bloody thing worked.

Tried to email myself again-with an attachment- as a test and it will always fail.
Appears that the notifier will not work  if you try to test the system using Thunderbird by emailling yourself an attachment but works every time if  emails originate remotely from your P.C (OR Sender and receiver are the NOT  the same identity)
 ???

Did you try both HTML and TEXT emails?
As you said, OE works perfectly with that notes  :-\

If you take a look here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=1647;start=0

The value UseAlternateRtfSyncing=1 into section [MailScanner] helps or not?

Support  have found a small bug-boundary string in MIME incorrectly parsed -but only for one special case- will be overcome in next programme update.
THANKS for your assistance
Cheers
