Title: Avast 5.0 Suite
Post by: silvertones on August 24, 2009, 07:18:14 PM
I'm tired of using multiple programs. I will never give up Avast .It has been a trusted friend for a long time. With the Suite will I be able to give up:
1. PC Tools Spyware Doctor, ThreatFire & Firewall+ ?

1. PC Tools Spyware Doctor, ThreatFire & Firewall+ ?
PC Tools is an anti spyware... n avast already has an antispyware right?
N threatfire is an AV, pretty much the same as avast...

Threat Fire is a behavior program. Avast! 5 will got Behavior Shield and also Avast! has anti spyware incorpored on it. Like you can see it http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-4-professional-antivirus-antispyware.html

So like i can see if im not wrong. If i was you all your protection you got now you will need to uninstall it if you get Avast! Suite and i would recommand Malwarebytes 1.40 Free or if you want to use the Paid then im not that sure but its can be conflict with their Real Time Protection so i can recommand to use the Free version of Malwarebytes who is on-demand. With Windows Defender(if he isnt gone) So be sure you got UAC and Windows Update On with Microsoft Update so all will be ok. Like me i got and never had problem. But i wont got Avast! Suite im not that lucky :D

the suite has antivirus+anti-spyware/adware+anti-rootkit+firewall
I recommend you uninstall spyware doctor and get malwarebytes anti-malwae.
Avast 5 already have behavior shield so there is no need for threatfire

Well i wouldnt keep Threat Fire has he is a Anti Behavior which Avast! 5 will got it. So like i did edit into up is what i would do if i was you :)

Edit : Well like people say its not a anti virus. And yes i was thinking its was but like some 1 said he say its a Anti Behavior. And if im not wrong i think its can act like a anti virus. So i wouldnt recommand to use it with Avast!. All i can say is what i said i think he will be really great. I got what i said with Avast! and all run fine with no conflict.

Yeah but what about the Anti Spyware?

Anti-spyware is already incorporated in avast 4.8 already (and will continue in 5.0), but that hasn't stopped people having other anti-spyware/malware as a back-up to avast, see my signature.

@ Mr. Agent: never used threatfire... just saw that on the company's website...
but since I'll not use the paid version, I'll keep my firewall as it is ;)

When Avast 5 comes out I could get rid of Spywre Doctor, Firewall+ and ThreatFire. Avast will do it all. I also use the free version of Malwarebytes. It catches everything Spyware Doctor does it just doesn't do it in Real Time like my paid version of Spyware Doctor does. I'm having 2 issues with conflicts between SD & Avast. It's flagging the Avast temp files. Known issue. They just can't seem to fix it.

Well like i said read my post into up for what i said (The 6nd post of this thread.) You will only need what i said and if you use Windows Firewall you will only need to disable it. If you use a freeware/software firewall you will need to uninstall it and buy/install Avast! Internet Security Suite.

Couldn't you make an exception (exclusion) into SD settings for them temp folder of avast?
What is "Firewall+"? McAfee Firewall?
