Title: The Blue ball icon issue
Post by: zone12 on September 21, 2009, 02:52:52 AM
I have a XP system that shows avast but sometimes to icon dissappears and there's a blue box at the very right side of the icons. I can get the icon back but I'm wondering if this is malware or a simple computer mistake

Blue box? Can you post a screenshot of it?
Anything into avast logs?
Is ashServ.exe running when the icon disappears?
Any other malware symptom?

YoKenny, your post is hardly helpful and the assumption is just inflaming.

It's just a blue box on the line between the light blue and dark blue of the task bar. Roughly the size of the avast ball and I don't know if ashServ is running or not because if I check the icon comes back. No other symptoms of anything

To post a screenshot see how: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8982.0
You can use Gadwin PrintScreen to get a screenshot (http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/) or the free version of WinSnap 1.1.10 (http://www.filehippo.com/download_winsnap/?2173).

You can check if ashServ.exe is running opening task manager (ctrl+alt+del).
