Title: We can't get Avast to run at all!
Post by: MdHodgkinson on June 05, 2004, 10:13:55 PM
We have Avast! version 4.1 Home Edition, and have been using it for some time now. A few days ago we were asked to re-register it, which we did and we entered the new license key correctly, but now when we try to start it we get the following three error messages (in the order shown):

'Storage cannot be created for the "splash" task.'
'Configuration is not loaded properly. Error: dbs.CreateObject.'
'Program cannot save parameters to the storage! (Error: dbs.CreateObject)'

Can anyone help us with this problem?

Search for ODBC and XML. I'm sure you'll find the answer. Its about changing avast4.ini file...

Wellcome!

1. Check your system date and time. Does the 'year' changed?
If so, correct it and see if your avast installation works.
Run a full scan with avast.

2. See if changing the avast settings (see link bellow) helps. Search for 'storage' in the forum. You will have to change ODBC to XML into avast4.ini file.

3. Try to repair your avast installation through Control Panel

Hope these ways help...  ;)
