Hello qim,

what is the problem or error that you are getting when you try to download from avast site?

are you using the online slim or the cnet installer.

you can get the installer from here (English): http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/download/242099f67389eacf276f8bca366af621/

but I would suggest getting the installer from avast site since it will be updated with the latest definition files.

let us know the problem you are experiencing.

For some time now when I try to download updates for another programme through download.com I get the repetitive noise I mentioned and the system freezes.  I have to abort and restart.  However, when I got an alternative download site all worked well.

Now, I have the same problem trying to download avast from their own site.

Any ideas?

Others using Firefox are having problems with the site.  There is some bad JavaScript on those pages.  Disable JavaScript, clear Firefox cache and try again.  See http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1506225 (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1506225).

FWIW, I use Firefox 3.5.5 and NoScript, and don't have a problem with CNet or Download.com.

I used IE 8 to download PopPeeper  without problems.  JavaScript is turned off in IE 8, as well as ActiveX except on trusted sites.

To clean these temporary files just download ccleaner if you can or else you do it manually^^
