my avast icon on my toolbar has a red circle with a line through it next to it and also when i opened avast it said 'the scan was completed with error : 42040=vps file was destroyed. does anyone know what i should do
-
Just try to manually update VPS again (iAVS).
Rightclick on "a" ball,move to Updating and select iAVS Update.
-
tryed updating but said it was already updated. no change to icon and still says vps error
-
Please open the file <avast>\setup\setup.ini, and in the [Parts] section, change the line that says
part.vps=vps-42403
to e.g.
part.vps=vps-42402
Then reinvoke the VPS update.
Thanks
Vlk

how do i find this file. i'm too stupid :-[

Typically it's in
C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\avast4\setup
It's called setup.ini -- if you double-click it, it will open in Notepad.
