Title: Problem Updating Program 416-418 - Vlk?
Post by: DavidR on June 14, 2004, 12:34:00 PM
Hi Vlk,

Sorry to give you more work.

This morning when connected, I got the program update notification and clicked to install now, during that installation there was a problem with the server timing out or something like that.

That was at the point when it was about to download the components, quite close to the end. Now the only option is to cancel, there is no option to resume or reconnect to the server.

Cancelling had the effect of making the update stamp? think I had already successfully completed the 418 update. I tried to manually update the program and it reported I had the latest version 418, even though about avast reports 416.

Is there a file that holds the stamp data (current version number) that I can change to 416 to allow update to 418?

4.1.418 is the answer. Sorry for the inconvenience (English version users won't even have to reboot when updating 416->418).

I'm using the using the english version and as you say I shouldn't need to reboot, so about avast (version 4.1.416)wouldn't be changed by a reboot?

TIA David

Well for English versions of avast there's really no difference between 416 and 418 but anyway what you could do is change the version numbers in <avast>\setup\setup.ini to indicate that you have 416 (instead of 418 which is probably there now).

Thanks for the very quick response, if as you say there is little difference in the english version, I can wait for the next program upgrade.

My main concern was that there could have been some corruption, but everything appears to be ok.

Thank you
