I noticed on ebay a guy is selling a 7 year Avast Pro code. When I questioned about his statement he said that if I bought it he would tell me what to do to get the 1 year license to a 7 year license.
"once you install the antivirus and the code there is on more step you have to do in the settings of the program will only be good for 1 year.. if you buy i will explain this to you...thx"
WOW, a 7 year license for Avast Pro --- but it must be a fake.

I first thought it might be some sort of OEM license, but his answer makes me pretty sure it is phony.
I have never seen a good deal for Avast on ebay, but I did buy a bogus code. I got my money back from PayPal.

Well the longest legitimate Pro license is 3 years, so I would suggest reporting this to ebay and avast.
The only people that get ultimately caught out here is the buyer when avast does detect it as bogus, as most won't be as fortunate as you in getting your money back.
With the arrival of version 5 in the not to distant future this is going to be harder to fake/hack or otherwise try to circumvent the pro license.

I make it a habit of bugging these guys on eBay. They hate it and it gives me something to do. I wish more avast! lovers would do the same.

WOOOOOOOOO, that is scary. I just might have to settle on the one for three years with the CD for $20 + $2.50. Not a bad deal. It looks legit, and yes, I can get my money back if it is not.

good for you, just be careful with these ebay, youtube videos of free licenses for software, and all those keygens and crack sites out there they are riddled with nasty stuff.

Hi All,
I think this happened not only in e-Bay or ecommerce site only,
But some people which like littleman and always looking for a free or cracked one had posted in their blog too.
I already found some and share it to ALWIL Team (Christian) to banned them.
So i think another AV vendors have a same experienced like us too, so i wouldn't strength to us.
If everybody found pirate or cracked license in website, just please informed to AlWIL Software.

Even if the seller's tip works, it's unethical -- and probably illegal in most countries. (Ask your lawyer if you really care).

I would not accept or buy something that was improper or illegal. However, I am going to let the AV companies police ebay. In general they do not seem to be interested.

your right the AV companies most likely have a legal department to handle these things. hmmm...why is that black SUV parked outside my house, OMG they found me i better delete that serial key from ebay Oh boy I hear footsteps ....coming to my front door...they are pounding on my door and ringing the doorbell repeatly and demanding payment. Hm.. after make few search,i manage to find "Secret License Code" and try it on avast pro 4.8. it work,Expired on year 2015. that is 5 year later..

And no doubt in due course when updating avast virus signatures it will be detected, resulting in invalid license error and the inability to download updates.
As mentioned avast 5.0 will also change that too, so it will be short lived, much shorter than 2015 :P
Not to mention some hacks if downloaded bring along unwelcome guests, it simply isn't worth it when avast provides a free version.

offers is a 3 year license.

Too bad that there is not a simple way to give this information to someone in Alwil that would expose him to ebay.
I feel sure ebay would take some action. In the past I have seen Avast offered, and then in a few days the item was removed, and the guy gone.
Actually there is at least one offer that appears legit - 3 years for $20 + 2.50 ship for CD and key. Good deal at approximately $7 per year.

I filed a complaint with eBay regarding this character and, as always, nothing was done and the listing is still there.
All they want is the money.
