Title: Ubuntu 9.10 avast new installation repeatedly asks for registraton and gives err
Post by: modsbyus on December 30, 2009, 02:15:58 AM
An error occured in avast! engine: Unknown error no.42000

Above is the error message I get every time I try to start avast. Avast started fine the first time, but after i updated the virus definitions this started.
I have tried uninstalling Avast and rebooting then reinstalling but that didn't help either.
Any ideas, guys?

Hi,

This is the Windows forum. The debian version of avast! works well with Ubuntu.

Hi again,

Some forum members use both Windows and Debian versions of avast!, as do I, but I do not know the answer to your question.

If you go to the ¨jump¨ box (bottom right of this page), arrow down and pick the Linux forum, then repeat your question there you may be more likely to get your answer.

Iḿ sure you are welcome here, but probably better placed there.
