Title: wants to restart every time i restart!!

Avast4.0 comes up with a window that says it needs to restart my operating sytem.  I restart and the window pops up again.  If i click no, will it still be working? Thanks!!

Which action have you performed to invoke system restart ? ...usually you get that message when you just updated avast! program, but when you reboot your computer, next time you enter Windows you shouldn't see that RESTART request again...

i just started my computer up this morning and it popped up, so i restarted, and it came up each time i did

Ok, but I asked you which action have you performed to invoke that restart request... if possible, post screenshot containing that pop-up message...

Tell it you do not wish to restart.  All that will happen is the on access scanner will not load.

1) go to add/remove programs in the control pannel and choose avast.
2) then select the repair option.
3) Now restart your computer and it should be fixed

I think that MacLover's solution could play the trick...
Did you try it?

Like Sasha said, the 'second' question to restart is not correct. Maybe repairing your installation this will be good.

By the way, you wrote version 4.0. Are you sure? Which version do you have? We are at 4.1.418.

axl,

you should consult avast4\setup\setup.log file for the possible source of the problem. It should say why it wants to reboot.
