Title: Win32:Rootkit-gen [Rtk]
Post by: kalle_1337 on January 09, 2010, 02:26:28 PM
so i read around and found out it lies in the system restore points, that you have to remove those

but it doesnt work, ive tried avast! and several other anti-virus/malware programs too

i searched around for a while, finding people with similiar problems, and realized this is the type of problem you need an experts help with

if theres anything im missing, just ask for it and ill cooperate

Nothing malicious jumps out that I see.

Adobe Reader 8.0 is down level and has vulnerabilites.

Adobe Reader 9.1:
http://get.adobe.com/reader <== un-select Google Toolbar if you do not want it

Vista SP2 is available.

You need to start Internet Explorer then go to Tools then Windows Update and download all of the available updates.

Go to Control Panel then Automatic Updates then select Automatic (recommended) or at least Notify me but don't automatically download or install them.

Update to IE8 as it is more secure:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) then install it then update it and run a Quick scan:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Go to Secunia Online Software Inspector then run it to see what other applications are vulnerable:

Unfortunately HJT will not show evidence of any of the current crop of malware - you will need to use a deeper analysis tool - what are your current problems ?

To ensure that I get all the information this log will need to be uploaded to Mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/) and post the sharing link.
