Is this normal? Thanks in advance for any help.
-
It depends on what you are doing as that is the main avast service, so any scanning, browsing, P2P, etc. going on is going to impact that. The VM Size is by all accounts (Alwil Team members) a better indication of memory being used.
Mine is no where close to yours as I'm only in the forums browsing/posting, etc, see image.

I'm only browsing here now and it's62.248K .
-
Mine is the same as DavidR's utilization on my XP Pro system.
What are your system specifications and what applications do you have loaded?
Go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then update your Signature: with this information like my signature.

I don't use anything from IOBit.
See:

Do you think they could be the problem(s)?
-
Remove them and see.
BitRemover that has been designed specifically to remove every last trace of the entries of IObit programs left behind if and when you had decided to uninstall one or more of these programs.

How good is Avast 5 anti-spyware vs Iobit Security 360? I usually use Revo to uninstall and remove remaining leftovers, is that okay?
Also thank you for all help, I really appreciate it.
-
I would recommend following YoKenny's advice and stay away from IObit.
-
Agreed.
Also, 60 - 70 mb is high for Avast, depending on what your shields are scanning this may be normal.
If you see an increase of memory usage say over an hour period or longer then it may be a memory leak that was undetected. System drivers and loaded programs being as varied on many machines may find more issues to be resolved.
Avast crew are pretty good about helping you out with anything they may need to troubleshoot.

Thank you for all the help. I will uninstall the IObit programs and if any "problems" occur I come back here for more help.
Again, thank you.
