Title: False Positive for Win32:Spyware-gen[Spy]
Post by: mwright on January 21, 2010, 10:46:57 PM
I recently installed Winutitlities pro and the install went fine but when I was using the program uninstall feature Avast said it caugt OUTLOOK.EXE infected with Win32:Spyware-gen[Spy].  Unless winutilities is infected or Avast just happened to catch it while I was using that program it seems like a false positive.  Any ideas?

Version 5?

I finally uninstalled 5 and went back to 4.8 because of all the false positives generated. Good luck,

Hello,
sent the file to virus@avast.com and put "False positive" to subject.

Thank you,
Milos

Version 5?

So after two days of the official release of 5.0 you feel you are getting so many FPs you went back to 4.8. Wouldn't it have been better to try and resolve them as that gives you a better AV protection over 4.8 (IMHO), it helps you get the best out of avast and it also helps other avast users.
