Was wondering if it is possible to change the color of the box that pops up when there are program updates.
I have Avast set to get virus updates, and to let me know when there are program updates as I am on Dial-up.
The problem I have, is when the virus update is done, it pops up with a blue box saying the virus database has been updated. Also, when a program update is avaiable, it pops up with the same blue box. Some times I don't read the box in time and I think that it was a virus database update and not a program update, I would like to change the color of the pop up box when it is a Program update so I know easier.
Hope that made sense.
Thanks, and thanks for a great progbram

I'm afraid it's not possible.
The info box has two possible colors (success or failure) - but the particular message inside cannot be distinguished by color.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to try and remember to check for program updates every week or so.
Would be nice in the future if there was a way to know a Program update from a Virus database update, something a little more noticable.
Thanks again,

Speaking of which ... one of my friends has an older laptop computer which is only capable of displaying 256 colors (at 1024x768). At 256 colours, the Avast virus/program update box (which is normally blue) pops-up as unreadable grey text on a grey background. Not good.
I realize that the majority of people run their screens at 16, 24 or 32 bits colour, but for those that can't, it may be a nice feature if Avast could create a pop-up box that is readable at 256 colours...(or can be customized by the user).

The colors can be configured in avast4.ini file. Check Technical's description in the "Understanding avast.ini" thread, or here (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=5072).

Your intended up-date schedule is not often enough unless you only go to the internet once a week or, receive e-mail only once a week.
I've had avast update more than once per day. Granted, that hasen't happened often but, once a week or so just isn't enough.
The more up-to date your virus program is, the more protected your system will be.
Have a nice day. :)

Was refering to program update checkes. I know the virus database is updated almost daily, that is set to update automaticlly. Program updates I have avast tell me when they are there, and download them when I am not doing anything else on the internet. I have crappy dial-up, I live in the middle of know where. :-[ I just wanted to know if I could chage the color of the box when program updates where avaiable so I would know to do the update, with both the Message saying that the Virus Database was updated and that there are Program updates both being blue, some times I miss the program update because I think that it had just updated the database.
