Gents,
I tried Avast! and (sorry) I disinstalled it.
Today I had a very tricky issue.
I downloaded a file. This file was an HTML one but the extension was .exe (It was an error page).
So I launched this file and I had the following error:
C:\DOCUME~1\Truc\Bureau\MUSET~2.EXE
C:\Program Files\Alil Software\Avast4\aswMonVd.dll. L'initialisation de la DLL d'un pilote de peripherique installable a echoue. Choisissez 'Fermer' pour mettre fin a l'application.
Sorry, my system is french. The Translation is something like:
C:\DOCUME~1\Truc\Bureau\MUSET~2.EXE
C:\Program Files\Alil Software\Avast4\aswMonVd.dll. The DLL initialisation of a pluggable device has failed. Choose 'Close' to close the application.
And now, I can't remove anymore this file !!!!
I try to reboot and even to use the F5 mode to boot. But it's impossible to delete this file!?
I'm sure it's not a virus because I edited this file with an ascii editor and it's pure HTML.
My system: Windows XP Home SP1.
Any ideas??
Thanks.
J.

Please, let us know if you have another antivirus installed in your computer...
Did you install, even in the past, Norton Antivirus?
Probably the references of that dll will be here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers
Take care changing the Windows Registry!

Thanks all!
Sorry but I didn't know about this tool.
It's done. I ran it.
And thanks again for your answers!
Bye.
