Title: unable to start virus scan

I recently registered my copy of avast free version, upgrading it from the 60 day trial.  Everything seems to be running fine, but every time I attempt to start up the file scanner I am once again asked for my registration key.  I give it, and it says it was successfully inserted, but then claims it to be invalid and will not let me start a scan. PLEEZ HELP!
