Hello I've noticed since i updated to newest version of Avast, If I have Behavior Shield Enabled the game runs laggy, it takes 2 minutes to log out of game.
Now i can leave all other Real-Time Shields enabled, Disable Behavior Shield and game runs fine and Log's out in 2 seconds.
Was wondering what does this Behavior Shield do and is it necessary to have enable, or is there some sorta Exclusions List for this Behavior Shield that i can add World of Warcraft too.

In theory at least, you can avoid this problem if you go to AvastUI --> Settings --> Exclusions and add the path to your WoW folder. Again, in *theory*, adding the path to a folder will disable on-demand scanning of chosen file path, and exclude the file path from protection offered by the real-time shields (including "behavior shield"). That is, if the behavior shield is the source of your problems.
The caveat to all of this is that I had avast 5! identify creative mediasource 5 player as "Malware-gen" a week ago, and I added it to this exclusions tab, thinking it would stop the file system shield from quarantining my poor media player. Unfortunately, it did not stop the file system shield from mischievously quarantining creative's mediasource and I had to add the file path to exclusions under the file system shield SEPARATELY in order to correct the problem. They may or may not have fixed this bug in release 418 as compared to 396.

Yeah i was thinking same thing "AvastUI --> Settings --> Exclusions and add the path to your WoW folder" I tried this before i posted and it did not do anything.
I'm pretty sure that Exclusion only works when running Virus scanner does not do anything for "Real-Time Shields".
I'm Currently Running Avast Version 5.0.418, Behavior Shield Disabled is only way my game works fine. I would really like to Keep Behavior Shield Enable, Also have it work with my games.
I Watch the Module while i'm in game and Logging out and i never see any activity so i'm not sure what this Real-Time Shield Behavior is doing but it's 100% problem Cause as soon as i disable it all my problems go away.
System Specs if needed:
Windows Xp Pro SP3
AMD Phenom 9850 Quard-Core 2.5GHZ
4 GB of Ram
Geforce 9800 GTX+ 512 MB
If anyone else has some suggestion Please Post.

Some of the Real Time Shields also have Exclusions settings. Example. File System Shield: Click on the Expert Settings button.

The behavioral shield unfortunately has no expert settings.

Behavior shield monitors changes to sensitive areas of your windows installation. For example, if you have it, run CPU-Z and you will notice that behavior shield logs an event when you run it (because CPU-Z installs a driver in a non-standard "load and call image" format). When you unload CPU-Z, it also logs an event (because the driver is unloaded).
Other things that trigger events include touching certain areas of the registry associated with startup, including modifying the userinit key of windows, and other nasty things malware may do. I am not sure what the "threshold" of activity that is required to cause behavior shield to jump into action, but methinks it probably has something to do with alerting the system shield to scan the program that is behaving badly in a fast and loose manner (meaning the more suspicious the behavior, the less convincing file system shield needs to declare that program malware).
The last part is just conjecture on my part.

I too have been experiencing lagging problems with WoW since Avast 5. I tried the LLF add on and turned on the improved latency in the wow video settings but to no avail.
I tried disabling the Behaviour Shield, but I was still having a high latency (lower than before but still quite high), so I reverted to 4.8 and the lagging issue went away.
I hope that the problem can be identified as I would really like to use the new Avast 5.

It was day and night for me. No problems what so ever and then after Avast 5.0 installation, terrible lag and freeze ups while logging out or changing toons. It took me a few hours of virus scanning and Spybot'ing to realize it was the program itself. Turn it off and no problems. Turn it on and problems back. I read the above and tried it with just shutting down the Behavior section and WoW runs ok in in that mode but not back to 100% (no hard numbers on it but just a feeling during 25 raids).
So for now I am just turning that section off as I play and back on afterwards. Hopefully someone will come up with a fix for it soon.

Yeah i was hopping for more of a Resolution but looks like no one has one, i'll just have to wait till one is found. And keep the "Behavior Shield Disabled".
Please Post if anyone finds a solution to this.

That almost made sense. You are saying that it is something in the settings of the Avast program rather than a virus causing the problem. I think we all realized that.

Are you saying you're still having the problem, with the latest version of avast and all up-to-date?
BTW were you installing avast 5 over v4.8, or from scratch?

Avast Version: 5.0.462 (Installed From Scratch)
I'm still going to be testing it a few more days before i say 100%, But it seems to be working fine with new update.
I will Post back if i Notice anything.

Edit * Well I've been having it on last 3 days now and wow seems to be acting good with it on, with it off it took me 3 seconds to log out with it on and updated it takes about 5 I'm not going to cry about 2 seconds.
Also noticed it takes little bit longer for the game to load once i click shortcut but it's nothing to long maybe few seconds more.
So all in all Update you program guys it works great nice fix.
P.S. Noticed if i click X on window to close game without logging out and the Behavior shield enable it takes like 10 minutes or longer it's like program hangs to close the game down, With shield disabled it takes 20 seconds.

The program installed and undated itself when the new version came out so I don't know if it was "fresh" or over the old one. It is whatever you programed it to do.
I do know that my wife has a brand new computer which had no anti-virus on it and I installed the new version on an otherwise virgin system, and she has the same problems with the Behavior shield causing Warcraft to slow to a crawl and often lock up when changing characters or entering/exiting.

Any hope out there I love Avast but it is making WoW unplayable.
