Title: Avast - Anti-Virus/Trojan/Malware Boot CD?
Post by: KitsapLady on February 15, 2010, 07:34:15 PM
I installed Avast Home (free edition) the moment I purchased this new Acer laptop, running Windows 7.

In one day I went from 20% of the hard drive (c:/) to full!

I definitely have a virus/malware something that avast did not protect me from.

How can I create a CD that scans and fixes during the boot?

Welcome to the forums, KitsapLady   :)

Have you tried a boot time scan with avast?

Also, that Acer probably came with a pre-installed av program. Did you remove it and how was it removed?

I have a brain injured aggressive post transplant grandson staying with me...
Please forgive me me for the reply...

I'm new to AVAST, and I don't see an option for a boot time scan. Can you tell me where to find it?

I have not reformatted my new computer, I have made the installation CD's. I'd really rather not reformat.

I have already used Malwarebytes, that was the first program I downloaded before I came here.

Wow... Hirens Boot CD's... I remember that from the old days! I'll have to look at that page and see their is  if a boot cd for me!
