Help....

 :'(

Hi all,

Have just installed Avast 5 (free) on one of our notebooks, did the updates etc then ran a boot time scan.
A couple of viruses were found, then following the boot time scan - system reboot, now all the system does is start the normal Vista boot sequence, then presents a blue screen for all of about 1 second.

F8 - attempt to boot into safe mode and same problem.

Allow Vista to load into auto repair (or whatever it is), unable to solve the problem.  Have looked for the recovery point, also no good.
There is no way I can see of booting into windows, not even safe mode.
Have run chkdsk from the command prompt section within the recovery consol, again nothing.

(Ram test have come back fine, and have plugged the HDD into another system and run both Avast and Nortons scan, as well as scandisk on the drive....)

Any ideas???

Any error message?
Did you send any file to Chest (Quarantine) while scanning?
Which is the error when you try Windows recovery (repair)?

Any other antivirus installed in this computer?
