Post by: miscreant on February 21, 2010, 09:35:37 PM
Is there an avast5.ini that can be edited for the inclusion of OptinProcess=AdMunch.exe in avast 5 free?
I dont see that file anywhere in the avast folder.

Have you tried a search for it (as it does exist, not in the program folder) using windows explorer. You need to have got rid of the explorer hidden files and folder option.

- Ensure that you have hidden files and folders enabled and disable hide system files in Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, Hidden files and folders, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types, etc. see image.

Though I don't believe it would go in there but the EmailShield.ini file in the same location.

- avast! 5 .ini file locations in Windows XP, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\EmailShield.ini

Thanks David...
The search function in W7 64 bit doesnt find the avast5.ini even though the folder is not hidden.Ive learned that the entry needs to be placed in webshield.ini (used to be under webscanner in avast4.ini in the 4.8 version)
working fine now
