I run Thunderbird 3.0.1 and have run Avast with no problem. Then I updated Avast to 5.0.418 and since then when I open Thunderbird, it asks me to enter my pass word, (I didn't have to do this in the old version), and when I do, I get the message "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.rabbit.com.au responded:"
Any ideas?
Thankyou

What are your settings in TBird for
IMAP: ssl on or off, port number?
POP: same question
SMTP: tls / ssl on or off, port number?
It is just a settings thing. (I use TBird 3 and avast 5.0.418)

Try your master password if ISP password doesn't work.

I am a Thunderbird 3 user and I have no problems with Avast 5
Except,
It tags many trusted emails as SPAM >:( - a little annoying :P

Which do you mean by it, TB or Avast! AntiSpam? If you mean the latter, you may like to turn it off since TB has its built-in Spam filter.

Obviously he's talking about Avast AntiSpam, since TB3's antispam is a "learning" antispam and will produce only very few false classification after a little time in use.

Yes, I am talking about Avast Anti-Spam
TB 3 anti-spam is already switched off
I was thinking
What is the need of Avast Anti-Spam because major email providers already have an inbuilt spam feature like in Gmail and Hotmail or Yahoo? ;D

Well, yous are very right...I get all of my mail through Gmail filter (Not recommended for someone who value his/her privacy!) and...yes, I can literally forget about the TB spam filter as you see. ;D So, yes, I think it is O.K. for you to turn off Avast! mail filter after all these filters are not for increasing our daily routine tasks but decreasing them.

not even mentioning (again) that avast anti-spam doesn't filter anything, or should I say there's no rule associated with the filtering in Thunderbird, ie moved to a junk folder >>> it just adds a *spam* mention in the subject line. They might improve the feature in the future, but as stated, email providers already include very good and effective spam filters now, + if wanted there's still another one, also very effective, integrated in Thb itself.
