Title: I can't uninstall Avast,

My Avast wasn't working.  It's been so long I can't remember what it was doing, but I tried to reinstall it.  Didn't work. So I went to Add/Remove Programs to uninstall it.  It is no longer there.  I went everywhere I could think of to remove the setup, etc.

I can't uninstall it, and I can't install any other Antivirus because Avast thinks it's a virus, I guess.  Please help.  I am getting messages that say I am unprotected.

I was very happy with Avast and would have it again if I can fix this problem.

I have a problem installing also. I went thru install on one PC w/o a hitch!
The other PC gives me a message window saying " your beta version of Avast Internet Security has expired..."
The only thing I had installed prior was Avast 4.8!
I have tried the 2 uninstall programs for 4.8 and 5 and using the 5 uninstall ran the Internet Security (just for the heck-of-it.
Tried uninstall from Safe Mode...no luck!

Both PC's are XP Home SP3

Would appreciate any suggestions,thanks,
