Title: avast searching for virus defs folder that does not exist
Post by: tgraham on March 10, 2010, 11:49:49 AM
Hi, I just installed Avast 5 on one of our office computers and when I did a scan it came up with seven results that said 'error: cannot find path specified'. The files it was looking for were in an avast virus definitions folder. But the folder itself does not exist.

The definintions were updated immediately prior to the scan. Although I received a message that it had updated successfully, is it possible that it did not update quite correctly?

Quite a coincidence, but it's possible that avast! removed the old virus definitions right when it was scanning the corresponding folder.
I wouldn't worry about it.
