Title: How can I stop the popup notifications
Post by: tjp888 on March 12, 2010, 04:40:04 PM
I am running version 4.8 Pro (WHS version).
All my workstations are running Windows 7.
The popup notification window that Avast puts up whenever it has updated itself is causing one of my programs to freeze. How can I turn this off?
I noticed a "WINPOPUP" option under the Alerts setting. But I am unable to modify or remove this setting - not sure if this is even what I am looking for.

What is the program ?

Why not look in the avast Settings, I think it is in the Update (Basic) section, Details button. I can't recall as I'm using avast 5.0 so I can't check.

I've gone through all the settings in Avast. Nothing seems to disable the notification pop up window.

If I can't get this fixed, I guess I can always uninstall it. Microsoft Security Essentials seems to be a pretty good alternate.

It is most certainly there in the standalone 4.8 version settings, I don't know if it is in the WHS version settings, I don't use it.
