Title: Server down?
Post by: Freeatlast on July 04, 2004, 09:53:22 PM
I have Avast 4 Home editon. I am on XP Home SP1, and for the last couple of times Avats has tried to update it says 'error: cannot update'. It says the server is down. Is this true and when will this be fixeD? Been going on for a few weeks now.

Right now seems ok...
Maybe a trouble on your side, maybe at Alwil side, maybe just web traffic...  ::)

Freeatlast,

If this has been happening for a few weeks, then I would suspect a problem on your end not Avast.

Is the update being done manually or automatically?
Can you run a manual update?

Do you use a firewall?  If so, ALL instances of Avast asking for "connection" must be granted (usually 3 requests....Ashamisv, Ashserv, and Avastsetup)

I knew I was missing something :( Dammit. Firewall was the problem, blocking AvastSetup from accessing the internet. Don't know if Kerio (firewall) did it or I did it by acident.

Thanks guys and sorry for wasting your time. I need to look harder next time.  ::)
