Title: Can't load any web page with Avast 5.0.462 web shield running
Post by: Laonick on March 25, 2010, 09:16:26 AM
All web pages I try to open time-out unless I turn off the web shield.
Using windows 7 Ultimate, Outpost firewall Pro 6.7
I read a similar problem from the forum and the feedback was it had something to do with the firewall, but my firewall is totally different, so I have a feeling the firewalls aren't the problem here.
This wasn't happening until I updated to Avast 5.0.462 (free edition) as the previous version had no probs at all.
I don't want to manually copy all the websites I visit into the trusted list so I can view them.
Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

Just because you have a different firewall doesn't mean it won't happen in that firewall. I had no problem with avast 5.0.462 and Outpost Firewall Pro ver. 6.7.2 (3001.452.0718).

If the problem isn't related to the Temp folder location that Zyndstoff gave the link to check the next option.

I have had this happen once before in an earlier version of Outpost Firewall Pro. Does Outpost allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.

Setting the firewall to accept avastSvc.exe internet access has solved the problem.

Thanks for your help DavidR  :)
